Our classic Uganda bar (deep and chocolatey) this time with just a hint of bitterness from the crunchy, Uganda nibs.
You like a lot of crunch in a smooth, chocolatey package. You enjoy a twinge of bitterness - like your aunt Carol.
"Wonderfully crunchy. This was awesome - the nibs really add a great compliment to the smooth chocolate."
All of our chocolate is crafted from high-quality, well-fermented, and well-roasted cocoa beans. Our chocolate tastes different. It has a distinct and strong flavor that’s true to the origin of the cocoa. And for every bar purchased, we make a donation towards cleaning up the ocean.
Located in Bundibugyo, Western Uganda, Semuliki Forest cacao is grown by 1,002 organic smallholder farmers in the region, 52% of whom are women. Latitude Trade Co. (LTC), the company that processes and exports this cacao, has organized 6 rural collection points for farmers to access. Beans are fermented in 500kg boxes for 5.5-6.5 days. After that, the cacao is sun-dried on portable raised racks for 6-7 days and blended to create consistent lots before export. Learn more >
Made from organic sugar cane grown in South America. The cane juice, rich in molasses, vitamins and minerals, is squeezed from fresh sugar cane, evaporated and crystallized.
Uganda nibs are sprinkled (heavily) into the back of the bar to give this a satisfying crunch.
Our chocolate is made without the use of additional flavor additives or emulsifiers, such as vanilla or soy lecithin. We like to stay true to the unique flavor of each cacao origin.
